They are proud of how successful you are today, but they don’t know that they are the reason behind it. Not in a good sense, though. No matter how successful and happy you are, you will never forget what they did to you, to make you so strong. How much they hurt you, even though the love they gave was more. They didn’t even know how, when and what hurt you so much. They just did what they always do. And they love you. You’re sure of that. They love you more than anything. And that’s exactly what makes it worse.
You’re guilty of making them realize how much they hurt you, because it hurt them. They didn’t give you pain on purpose, they never meant it the way you took it. But, it hurt nonetheless. No matter how innocent they were. No matter how unknown you keep it. It hurt. It hurt like hell. And the moment didn’t hurt as much as the memories it surfaced.
Memories. What a fascinating thing a memory is. Happiness, sadness, pain, pleasure, everything makes memories. And when they say something to you that hurts you, it’s just twenty percent their words, and eighty percent the memories. The reminder of people you lost. That if they were here, non of that would have happened. And then it hurts more. But we’re never true to ourselves. We know well enough that even they were here, exactly the same would have happened…with a few exceptions.
Why do we fool ourselves? Why do we hurt ourselves? So what if they hurt you? So what if their words, or their actions cut your heart into two? They never meant it. And why are you being the same person and hurting them back? Be the person you are. You’re giving. You’re nice. You don’t hurt people. So what if they don’t realize it? Someday, they will.
They question you. They don’t trust you. It’s really the little things, and no one knows what clicked. What hurt. But it’s there. It’s always there knocking at the door of your heart. Letting you know what needs to be done. How you want to hurt them back. Let them know…
But don’t let that ball get past you into the net, not even once. Be brave, stand in front of the net and don’t let them score even one goal. That’s life. Because trust me, people won’t remember the number of goals you saved, but the ones you missed. So don’t miss even one.
And don’t think they’ll understand how loyal your heart is for them, they won’t understand, because a loyal heart needs a good enough personality to be revealed. And if one of them is missing, they tend to get hurt. Just like you get hurt by their words. Their hearts were loyal, they never meant to hurt you. But at the end of the day, when the lights are off, you cry. You cry, partly because you’re hurt and partly because you’re helpless… You love them. They love you. They hurt you. And you can’t do anything about it…
Just remember, the way you get hurt by their words, they get hurt by yours, and you don’t even realize it. They just hide it the way you do.
Life is too short for regrets. Don’t mistreat them. Don’t judge them. Don’t let go. Because, you never know when you’re gonna lose them to death. And I’m not saying that to be dramatic. I’m saying this, because it’s true, and you know it.
